Every box includes the micro-USB charging cable (charges from any car USB port or power bank). Keep the box — when you're ready we email you a pre-paid return QR to drop it at any Post Office. Two optional add-ons at £5 each: the 12V car charger and the examiner-style dash mat. Both are part of the hire and come back in the case with the device. Why a real device, not a phone app?
It's the skill the test examines. Independent driving is 20–35 minutes of your test — examiners can now extend it to your entire test. Most learners are given the TomTom sat-nav, not traffic signs.
A retest is months away. Don't pass, and you rejoin the booking queue — DVSA's published car test waiting time was 21.5 weeks (about 5 months) in 2025–26. Give yourself the best shot first time — on the same brand of sat-nav, on your test centre's roads.

FAQ
Are these the official test routes?
DVSA doesn't publish official routes and examiners can vary them at any time. Our routes are practice routes compiled and refreshed through local professional observation — treat them as familiarisation with the test area, not a script.
Will learning routes guarantee a pass?
No — and taking a wrong turn on test day is not a fault. What helps you pass is being comfortable following a sat-nav in the local area. That's what this rental is for.
Which test centres do you cover?
40+ centres across the UK and growing — tell us yours when booking. If we can't prepare quality routes for your centre, we'll tell you and refund in full before anything ships.
What if my test gets moved?
Extend by the week (£15) — just pay online before your current hire period ends; no re-posting needed. Extensions are subject to availability. Extend online here.
Is my deposit safe?
£50, refunded within 5 working days of the device passing inspection. Itemised (with photos) if anything's ever deducted. Fair wear never charged.
How do I send it back?
Keep the box. When you're ready, tell us and we email you a pre-paid return QR code — pack the device and drop it at any Post Office, no printing needed. Your hire period ends on the day you hand it over. See Hire Terms §2.
Can I cancel?
Yes. You have 14 days from the day you book to cancel without giving a reason — cancel before we dispatch and you get a full refund. If you cancel after dispatch, we refund what you paid minus a proportionate charge for the hire already supplied. Just email passnav@smartaisolution.co.uk. Full details in Hire Terms §4.
What if it gets damaged?
Fair wear and tear is never charged. Damage beyond fair wear and tear, or loss, can be charged up to £75 for the device (plus up to £50 for accessories), set against your deposit first. Any deduction is itemised with photos — see the Deposit Policy.
