It's the skill the test examines. Independent driving is 20–35 minutes of your test — examiners can now extend it to your entire test. Most learners are given the TomTom sat-nav, not traffic signs.
A retest is months away. Don't pass, and you rejoin the booking queue — around 21.5 weeks (5 months) on average. Give yourself the best shot first time, in the same setup you'll face on test day.

DVSA doesn't publish official routes and examiners can vary them at any time. Our routes are practice routes compiled and refreshed through local professional observation — treat them as familiarisation with the test area, not a script.
No — and taking a wrong turn on test day is not a fault. What helps you pass is being comfortable following a sat-nav in the local area. That's what this rental is for.
